Privacy Policy
Running Companion is made by NewTech Builders s.r.o. ("we"). This policy explains what the app does with your information.
In short: the app has no account, no servers, no analytics and no advertising. We do not collect any data. Everything the app records stays on your own devices.
What we collect
Nothing. Running Companion makes no network connections of its own and sends no data to us or to anyone else. We cannot see your workouts, your location, your heart rate or your health data.
What the app keeps on your iPhone
- The workouts you create and their segments.
- Your workout history: date, duration, distance, splits, elevation gain and, when a heart rate source is connected, the heart rate recorded during the workout. The app does not keep your GPS route.
- Your settings, such as distance units, your max heart rate, your heart rate source, and the name and identifier of the Bluetooth heart rate sensor you connected, so it can reconnect.
This data is stored only in the app's storage on your iPhone and is included in your device backups like the data of any other app. Deleting a workout removes it. Deleting the app removes all of it.
Location
The app uses your location only while a workout is running, including in the background while the screen is locked, to measure distance, pace and elevation gain. It keeps the resulting distance and splits, not the route. If you connect Apple Health, the route of an outdoor workout is saved to Apple Health.
Motion and fitness
For indoor workouts, where GPS cannot measure distance, the app reads the distance your iPhone's motion sensors count from your steps.
Bluetooth heart rate sensors
The app connects to heart rate sensors that use the standard Bluetooth Heart Rate Profile, such as chest straps and trackers with heart rate sharing turned on. It reads only the heart rate they broadcast.
Apple Health and Apple Watch
If you connect Apple Health, the app saves each finished workout there with its distance and, for outdoor workouts, the route and elevation gain. The iPhone app reads nothing from Apple Health.
If you choose Apple Watch as your heart rate source, the Running Companion watch app reads your heart rate during the workout and sends it straight to your iPhone over Apple's own connection between your devices. The watch does not save a workout of its own.
Health data is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, and never shared with anyone. You can review or revoke access at any time in the Health app, or in Settings, Privacy & Security, Health.
Sharing with others
We share nothing because we receive nothing. The app contains no third party analytics, advertising or tracking code, and it does not track you across apps or websites.
Children
The app collects no information from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export or delete on your behalf. You control all data in the app and in Apple Health directly. If you have a question about your rights under the GDPR or any other law, contact us.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
